The earthquake was felt by hundreds who lived in the Bay Area.
A small earthquake has been detected in the San Francisco Bay Area this morning, although there were no indications that it had caused any problems.
The U.S. Geological Survey detected a quake that measured 3.5 on the Richter scale, a relatively small quake by San Francisco standards, according to an Associated Press report.
The quake struck at 12:06 a.m. local times and was centered at around San Ramon, which is about 15 miles east of downtown San Francisco.
The local sheriff’s office said that there hadn’t been any reports of injuries or damages from the small quake. There were hundreds of reports from people in the Bay Area who indicated they felt it, however.
The Bay Area is certainly no stranger to quakes — and much more powerful ones than the one early this morning. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake killed 3,000 people and burned 80 percent of the city — it measured 7.8 on the Richter scale. The 6.9-magnitude 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake disrupted game three of the World Series a half hour before it was supposed to start.
