Jamie Foxx in hot water with LGBT group for below-the-belt Bruce Jenner jokes

Actor-singer Jamie Foxx received sharp criticism on Monday from LGBTQ advocacy group The Trevor Project for jokes he made last night about reality star Bruce Jenner and his possible decision to transition to a woman, Reuters reports.

At the iHeartRadio awards show, which aired Sunday on NBC, host Foxx cracked twice about Jenner’s potential transition. The former Olympic gold medalist and patriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner family has been in the news recently for his more feminine appearance, and rumors have been rampant that he is actively transitioning.

“Bruce Jenner will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his and her duet all by himself,” Foxx commented onstage.

“Look, I’m just busting your balls – while I still can,” added the jokester in his opening monologue, as a blown-up photo of Jenner flashed on a screen behind him.

In a statement to the media today, The Trevor Project, which provides support and counseling for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and engages in suicide prevention, said “insensitive comments made in the media only exacerbate the problem.”

“Given all the struggles that LBGTQ youth face on a daily basis, comments like these don’t help to promote an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding.”

Representatives for Foxx and Jenner had no comment on the flap. iHeartRadio also had no comment.

According to news reports, Jenner has not publicly confirmed rumors of his decision to transition to a woman, but has been open with his family about his next steps. The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” patriarch has reportedly agreed to a sit-down with Diane Sawyer on ABC to discuss his transition.
