University of Minnesota student missing

University of Minnesota sorority member, Jennifer Houle, was last seen early Friday morning before she went missing.

Houle, 22, went missing after a night of bar hopping that ended at an off-campus Irish pub. Her purse was later discovered by police about three blocks away in the middle of the street, according to New York Daily News.

The business student and sorority sister of Pi Beta Phi was out with friends when they were separated at Blarney Pub & Grill. The friends think that she might have tried to walk home from the bar shortly after, when she was intercepted by foul play.

The friends also mentioned that they ran into Houle’s ex-boyfriend earlier in the night. They told police that this set off an emotional charge for the night. Police followed up and spoke to him as well as other people who were at the bar that night to gather as much information as possible.

Minneapolis police stated that Houle was last seen between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

In support of the search, Houle’s sorority sisters have plastered missing posters across the neighborhood and online.

The university is also working with police to help in the search.

“We remain hopeful that Ms. Houle will be found safe and sound,” Minnesota Dean of Students Danita Brown said in a statement.

The Stillwater community, including some of her friends, turned out for an emotional gathering Sunday night at Stillwater High School. Although her family is very private and did not attend the vigil of about 300 people, other friends and community members were there. The supporters prayed for a safe return and encouraged the public to help look for her.
