Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, announced her high probability of formally starting a 2016 Republican presidential campaign.
Fiorina said that the odds of her putting in a presidential bid is “higher than 90 percent.”
The former chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard said she is still in the process of getting a team in place and rounding up financial resources and will be officially announcing her decision by late April or early May, according to Fox News.
60-year-oild Fiorina would be the only potential Republican candidate so far in the 2016 race to serve as a contrast to the Democrats’ front-runner and only potential female candidate, Hillary Clinton.
Fiorina said that Clinton, a former first lady and New York senator, lacks accomplishment. Her consistent criticism of Clinton continued with her remarks about her making a deliberate effort to shield her log of communication while at the State Department by using her own personal server and email accounts.
The former CEO was forced out of Hewlett-Packard in 2005 after a ten-year tenure as the company stock plummeted and tens of thousands of employees lost their jobs during the dotcom bubble.
She has said that she was the one who navigated the company through the worst tech recession in over 25 years and that the criticism pointed at her was just part of “Democratic talking points.”
Fiorina has dismissed all accusations that she is really shooting for a GOP vice presidential nomination. She says that her corporate experience gives her a solid understanding of the U.S. economy and foreign policy.
“If I run for president, it’s because I can win the job and do the job.”
