Shocking plot in California involves kidnapping babies, beating and shooting their parents

Police Chief Robert Luna called the plot "evil," and said the he hoped that the perpetrators "get hammered for this ... this is just unbelievable."

A California woman who police say planned to steal two babies from their mothers and pretend that they were hers — only to later kill a 3-week-old girl and beat both of the children’s mothers — has been arrested.

Police arrested 47-year-old Giseleangelique Rene D’Milian of Thousand Oaks after she followed a young mother she saw boarding the bus in Long Beach with a baby girl, and later tried to have another person killed in an attempt to steal her son, authorities said according to an Associated Press report.

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Anthony McCall of Vista along with D’Milian on charges of suspicion of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, and kidnapping, with 44-year-old Todd Bourdreaux of Fontana and 30-year-old Charisse Shelton of Corona arrested on charges of suspicion of being accessories after the fact. They have their first court appearance scheduled for Friday.

Police Chief Robert Luna described the plot as “evil,” adding that he “hope[s] that they get hammered for this … this is just unbelievable,” according to the report.

D’Milian began the plot by falsely telling her married boyfriend that she had given birth to twins this past December while out of the United States, and in order to continue deceiving him, she needed two children who would be the correct age, police said, adding that her first attempt was on Jan. 3 when she enlisted McCall’s help in using separate cars to follow the mother of a young girl they had spotted taking a bus in Long Beach.

Once the woman got off the bus and was on her way walking home, D’Milian pulled over and talked to the woman about the child. Just a couple hours later, McCall snatched the girl, Eliza Delacruz, from her home and then shot and wounded her parents and her uncle, according to Luna.

The baby’s body was later found in a dumpster 100 miles south of the girl’s home near the Mexican border. The reason for her killing is not known by police.

A month later, D’Milian had another kidnapping arranged by claiming to have a charitable organization that could assist young mothers, and getting in contact with an acquaintance who had a 4-month-old boy, police said. She then told McCall to kill the woman, and he beat the woman with a baseball bat, but fled without the baby when hotel workers knocked on the door as the woman screamed for help, according to the report.

Police were able to track down McCall and then D’Milian through witnesses, according to the report.
