NFL player Devon Still shared news that his 4-year-old daughter, Leah, is full remission from her cancer.
Leah Still was fighting cancer for the past nine months. She was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma that was on stage 4. Since then, Leah and her battle have been in the public eye since her dad posted a pep talk video with her that went viral.
Her father was able to share the encouraging news from her doctors, announcing that it was the happiest day of his life, according to the Empire State Tribune.
“After 296 days of day dreaming about what it would feel like to hear the doctors say my daughter is in remission, I finally know the feeling,” he wrote. “Funny thing is there is really no way of describing it because I never knew this feeling existed. When I look at my daughter all I can do is smile and hug her.”
At 25 years of age, Still had been fired from his team. But when the management team of the Cincinnati Bengals realized his daughter had a stage 4 cancer, they brought him back in to the practice squad, and soon after, he was placed back in the active list.
Leah had surgery and went through chemotherapy after the doctors discovered she had a cancerous growth in her abdomen.
Last December the Bengals presented the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with a donation check of over $1 million for its cancer research program.
Still declared that he is very proud of his daughter for battling the caner face to face and “kicked the cancer’s butt.” He expressed his deep appreciation to her doctors at the Children’s Hospital, the Bengals, and all who gave their support and offered their selfless support to his daughter.
Leah is still undergoing treatment for the cancer, but her father is confident she will not give in.
