Police don't believe he touched the children inappropriately, and school officials don't plan on telling the children about it.
An Ohio teacher has been accused of secretly recording kindergarteners with a tiny spy camera inside the bathroom.
Authorities have charged 32-year-old Elliot Gornall, who taught at an elementary school in Loudonville and resign last year after facing charges in a separate case, with 25 felony counts, including 23 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and two accounts of attempting the crime, which covers the 25 children who were involved, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Ashland County Prosecutor Chris Tunnell said in a statement that the case was a “horrifying” example of a trusted kindergarten teacher taking advantage of young children.
Gornall had passed background checks in the four years he had worked for the district, and was well-liked by staff, parents, and students alike, said the principal of the school, Annette Gorrell, according to the report.
Gornall was arrested on Friday and has a court appearance scheduled for Monday.
He resigned in December after facing charges of felony drug possession, and was later charged with a misdemeanor for receiving stolen property, according to police, who say the found children’s underwear after searching his home to investigate the drug charges. It was then they confiscated his computer and reached out to the school. Police found videos from Aug. 20 to mid-November that led to the current charges.
The videos weren’t uploaded or shared, police said, and they don’t believe the teacher abused or touched the children. School officials don’t plan on talking about the allegations with the kids, and they are hoping they never find out about the incident.
