Photos of the much anticipated phone leaked over the weekend.
HTC was hoping to reveal its new flagship mobile phone, the M9, a week from now at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1. But as best laid plans seem to have a way of going awry, maybe maybe we should not be surprised that photos of the much anticipated phone leaked this past weekend.
The German site, Mobile Geeks posted a number of what look to be press renders of the HTC One M9 on Sunday, displaying the device from all angles. Later that day, Phandroid posted more photos of the phone, apparently confirming the previous leak. Phandroid claimed that a “trusted, reliable source… close to the Taiwanese company passed along a couple of new photos for us to take a look at.”
Given the rave reviews of the M9’s predecessor, the HTC One M8, it should come as no surprise that not much has changed in the new model. One exception though is that HTC appears to have moved the power button from the top of the device to the right side. Additionally, according to the leaked photos, HTC shifted the volume adjuster and power buttons to be lower on the right edge of the device.
Phandroid’s source was also able to confirm that the M9 will be powered by a combination of an octa-core chipset and 3GB of RAM. While the rest of the device’s specs remain unconfirmed, they are rumored to include: a 5-inch 1080p display; a 2,840mAh battery; Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7.0; and a 20.7 megapixel camera on the rear, combined with an UltraPixel camera on the front.
