New Englanders have spent weeks digging out from the massive amount of snow that has been dumped on residents, and this weekend's storm didn't make things any easier for them.
It was another exhausting weekend of winter weather for New England, and more frigid arctic air is set to sweep through the region in the coming days.
A wintry mix slammed the East Coast, leaving snow as far south as Georgia and dumping more of the white stuff on an already-buried New England, according to an Associated Press report.
The National Weather Service predicted that 6 inches would fall on some areas in the Northeast by Sunday morning, and by Saturday night about 8 inches had descended on Baltimore, 5 on Washington D.C., and 2 on New York City.
Although the snow may be gone for now, temperatures are expected plunge once again this week.
The storms caused plenty of problems fro commuters over a large part of the United States. Rain and cold temperatures in Tennessee resulted in state officials warning of flash flooding, and drivers in D.C. were urged to avoid the roads.
The weather prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to briefly ground aircraft on Saturday at Philadelphia International Airport due to high winds and low visibility. A total of 20 percent of flights were canceled, with many others delayed. Three airports in the New York metropolitan area as well as Washington Dulles International Airport and Memphis International Airport in Tennessee also were reporting delays.
Boston is still digging out of 8 feet of snow that has been dumped on the city this winter, and it was projected to get as much as 6 more inches in some areas.
However, the East Coast wasn’t the only part of the country affected. Colorado was expected to get 2 feet of snow in some areas, with heavy snow beginning on Saturday.
