New York police officer kills daughters, then takes his own life: police

Glen Hochman had just retired last month after 22 years on the police force, and had won an award last year for helping keep a man alive until paramedics could arrive.

Police are investigating the death of a retired White Plains police officer who they believe killed his two teenager daughters and then himself.

Police responded to a home on Saturday afternoon after getting a call about something suspicious, and they found three bodies, which were identified as 52-year-old Glen Hochman, 17-year-old Alissa Hochman, and 13-year-old Deanna Hochman, according to an Associated Press report.

Authorities believe Glen Hochman killed the teens as well as some family pets before taking his own life. His wife and another daughter were not at the house at the time, authorities said.

Police declined to provide more details to the press, saying that they were waiting for more information and for the medical examiner’s office to do their work.

Hochman was a White Plains police officer for 22 years, where he worked traffic. He had retired just last month.

Last year, he won an award after he helped keep a man alive until paramedics could arrive. His death “shocked and horrified” the White Plains Police Department, said David Cong, the city’s public safety commissioner, according to the report.

His neighbors called it a “horrible” situation.

The Harrison Central School District website posted a note from the superintendent stating that the entire district mourns the deaths of the two girls in what it called an “incomprehensible tragedy.”

The school will open on Sunday at noon to provide support for those who were affected by the shooting.
