We all remember the good and bad times at Bayside High School.  Saved by the Bell was a truly iconic television sitcom that lasted from 1989 to 1993.  Teenagers across the United States could relate to the myriad of sweet and charming characters.  Today, the show still holds cult fame, both for original viewers and those who caught on to the phenomena long after it first premiered.

Last night, Jimmy Fallon successfully rounded up some of the top stars from Saved by the Bell in a surprise reunion on “The Tonight Show.” Fallon began a sketch that faded into a series of flashbacks taking him back to high school—Bayside High School. As Fallon went deeper into his high school memories, a lot of familiar faces brought all their old school charm and comedy.

Featured in the reunion special was zany Zach Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), jock A. C. Slater (Mario Lopez), heart throb Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen), bombshell Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley), and even principal Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins). The Wednesday night audience of “The Tonight Show” got a huge surprise they weren’t expecting with so many of their favorite Bayside High School alumni on set.

The sketch made pop culture references to some of the most iconic episodes, with famous catchphrases in tow. The entire performance was done in one single scene; shot live in front of an audience, an impressive feat for a group who had not worked together since the early 1990s.

Those familiar with the show saw it coming the second the set began to take shape, resembling that beach side high school from what seems like an era long gone.  Fallon had only mentioned some surprise guests, but did not name exactly which former Bayside student was going to make an appearance.  Needless to say, the audience was thrilled to see so many old favorites jump into Fallon’s flashback.

Still, not everyone was present. Unfortunately, the geeky Screech was not present.  Dustin Diamond was recently arrested last December in Milwaukee for possession of an illegal switchblade and endangerment, according to Time Magazine. Diamond reportedly stabbed an unnamed man in the armpit, who was hospitalized but not seriously injured.

But Screech’s absence did not put too much of a damper on the skit. The former cast meshed perfectly together and spent much of their time filming posting on social media, showing their fans just how much fun they were having.
