From Guardians of the Galaxy to Jurassic World to Indiana Jones?
According to Deadline, Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Parks and Recreation) may be next in line to take over the character of the adventurous archaeologist Indiana Jones, which Harrison Ford is famous for playing.
This would not be the first attempt to reinvigorate the franchise. Paramount came out with the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull back in 2008. Harrison Ford was the lead in this film and Shia Labeouf played his sidekick. Even with Steven Speilberg at the helm of the film, it backfired.
In 2013, Disney bought the rights for the franchise from Paramount and it would not be out of the question to see a new Indiana Jones movie soon. They have a track record of creating successful franchises after acquiring IP. Disney has yet to comment on the casting of Pratt or even the possibility of rebooting the franchise.
Chris Pratt would be no stranger to blockbuster films at this point of his career as he has previously worked with Disney on the Guardians of the Galaxy and will next be seen in the reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World.
Pratt also starts filming The Magnificent Seven along with Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua in April for MGM and Sony. So even if Pratt wanted to be a part of the Indiana Jones franchise his schedule might not permit it.
