Literally a day before Chris Brown was supposed to embark on a new tour he broke the news to his fans that it would not be happening, or at least not yet. The Between the Sheets tour was going to headlined by singer Trey Songz.
The reason for the postponement was cited as legal obligations that he had to fulfill. In 2009 Brown was convicted of a felony over assault of ex girlfriend Rihanna, and along with jail time and court ordered rehab, the singer has had to log in about 1,000 hours of community service. Brown also plead guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge in September 2014 after getting into a physical altercation with a man outside of his tour bus.
At the present time, Brown reportedly has 100 hours left to finish of his community service, and without so the judge would not grant him the option of traveling, which of course is necessary for a tour.
Brown took to his social media to express a statement of his regrets.
“I would first like to apologize to all the fans and people who have been supporters of me and all the music over the years. The beginning of the BTS tour has been moved to later dates now. The judge would not sign off on my travel to do the tour until I finish these last 100 hours of community service. I promise that I am busting my ass doing it everyday until it’s complete,” he began.
“This is the most disappointing news I’ve gotten in a while. Everything happens for a reason so I wanted to personally inform my fans. The show must go on. Out of 1000 hours I only have 100 left. I will work my ass off to complete it and I will be on that stage. Once again I’m sorry for the delay. I love yall,” he said.
The tour was scheduled with 25 different stops, starting in Hampton Virginia and closing in March at The Forum in Inglewood. The end of the tour Brown was also to be joined by Tyga, with whom he will be releasing an album with in February.
The reason for the judge denying his travel request was not without reason. Brown violated his probation orders earlier in the month when he left Los Angeles to perform at at a San Jose nightclub. That particular performance was not without incident either, gunshots were fired in the club while Chris was on stage and five different people were injured in the incident.
The artists themselves as well as the involved concert promoters are confident that the tour schedule will pick back up as normal once Brown completes the end of his community service. Both Tyga and Trey took their own social media as well to make note of the delay but to assure fans that things would be back on track as soon as possible.
The new tour dates have yet to be announced.
