Bill Cosby has chosen to postpone his upcoming stand-up comedy show in Charlotte, NC, in the wake of numerous allegations from women accusing the comic of sexual assault.

Cosby was scheduled to perform at the Belk Theater on February 22; no new date has been announced for the concert at this time. In a statement from National Arts Corporation, scheduling conflicts were cited as the reason for the postponement; they assured audiences that Cosby “will be back soon to raise the roof with laughter.”

Nearly three dozen women have come forward to point the finger at Cosby, accusing him of drugging their drinks and sexually assaulting them. The 77-year-old comedian has not been charged with any crime and has neither confirmed nor denied the allegations. Regardless, his pending projects with NBC and Netflix have been shelved.

As Cosby continues to tour in the United States and Canada, his co-stars from The Cosby Show offered words of support for their former colleague. “Just as it’s painful to hear any woman talk about sexual assault, whether true or not, it’s just as painful to watch my friend and mentor go through this,” stated actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner, who played son Theo.

Phylicia Rashad, who played wife Claire, was more pointed in her statements. “Forget these women,” said Rashad in an article for Showbiz 411. “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.”

Rashad later claimed that her statements were taken out of context, and that she had never meant the words “Forget these women” in a dismissive fashion.

Cosby will next perform at the Sandusky State Theater in Sandusky, Ohio.
