Yesterday, we reported that Anne Hathaway was returning to the stage with the one-woman show Grounded. Today, we learn that three time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper will also be making his way to the stage.

He will take his praised portrayal of Joseph Merrick, better known as the Elephant Man, an Englishman with severe deformities who was exhibited as a human curiosity in Victorian times, to London this summer.

The play, which is currently on Broadway, will have a limited run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from May 19th, 2015 to Aug. 8th, 2015.

“Never did we think we would have the privilege to perform this show on Broadway, let alone in London,” Cooper said in a statement. “I’m honoured that Alessandro Nivola, Patricia Clarson, the entire company and I have the opportunity to continue to tell his story.”

Cooper has won raves for his performance as Joseoh Merrick, who died at the age of 27 in 1890. The production does not use any prosthetics to show his deformities, but rather he hints at Merrick’s deformities by contorting his limbs.

“There’s something about the physical manifestation of the movie star, who by nature has to be looked at, playing this part. I get that,” Cooper says.

The Producer’s announced that the play’s Broadway run will be slightly abbreviated to accommodate Bradley Cooper’s trip to the Oscars on Feb. 22nd, 2015 for his Academy Award nomination work in American Sniper. The final performance of The Elephant Man will take place on Feb. 21st, 2015. Additionally, performances on Feb. 7th, 2015  at 8 p.m. and Feb. 8th, 2015 at  3 p.m. were canceled, as Cooper will be going to the DGA Awards.
