On Jan. 18th , 2015, Seth Rogen tweeted his observation of the similarity between American Sniper, a film about American patriotism, and Inglorious Basterds, a Nazi film. Minutes later, fans of The Interview actor Seth Rogen started a brawl.
American Sniper is a Clint Eastwood film about a U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, one of the best snipers in American History returns home but can’t leave the war behind.
@Sethrogen: American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that’s showing in the third act of Inglorious Basterds.
Seth Rogan’s fans replied:
@johnbtuerk: @Sethrogen Just wait until North Korea hears of this.
@12noodles: @Sethrogen u sir are a chunky pathetic waste of sperm. I will never watch a movie again that has ur pathetic face in it ever again.
@Melissa_in_NC: @Sethrogen oh … NOOOOO you didn’t #lame
@atherton0331: @Sethrogen That’s because you’re a fat turd reefer addict. Go back to your fruity pebbles and dry humping Franco.
Seth Rogen was tired of all the hate so he posted a new tweet to explain his previous tweet:
@Sethrogen: I just said something “kinda reminded” me of something else. I actually liked American Sniper. It just reminded me of the Tarantino scene.
Seth Rogen’s fans replied:
@RealRyanSipple: @Sethrogen I get it, You were misunderstood. All is forgiven. How about you make fun of @MMFlint with a tweet to set it straight?
@robjones3030: @Sethrogen I’m sure when you compared it to a propaganda piece by Goebbels you meant it in the nicest way, sweetie. #AmericanSniper
Seth Rogen explained again:
@Sethrogen: I wasn’t comparing the two. Big difference between comparing and reminding. Apples remind me of oranges. Can’t compare them, though.
His fans replied:
@jtLOL: @Sethrogen Oh, sure. It just reminded you of Nazi propaganda. That’s all. No disrespect, right?
@TheAmishDude : Huh. You’re not very bright…are you? @Sethrogen
@MichaelSmith024: @Sethrogen I call bullshit;I would have taken u more seriously if u said u were high &just screwed up.Sorry, 2 late;u showed ur true colors.
@StephenGutowski: @Sethrogen Apples remind you of Oranges?
However, there were fans who were supportive of him:
@EmilyMaeFrickey: @JaredKail My point is that @Sethrogen made a valid comparison. Read into it all you want, but it is the truth. They are similar.
@baughwoman: @Sethrogen I swear to God I said that when I left the film. It’s not bad to say it bc it’s true. We’re not comparing him to nazis.
No matter which side you are on, next time Seth Rogen will definitely be extra careful so his next tweet doesn’t start World War Four.
