If you’re feeling nostalgic for some of the biggest musical acts of the 80s and 90s, look no further than Summer 2015.
New Kids on the Block Donnie Wahlberg, Joey Macintyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood stopped by Good Morning America on Tuesday morning for a sit-down with host Robin Roberts. During the interview, they made a special announcement that will certainly be music to the ears of their incredibly dedicated fanbase.
“We have decided to reform again—not that we have broken up—but we are gonna go back out on tour this summer, which is great news for our fans because we haven’t toured in the U.S. in a couple of years. It’s a huge thing for us and our fans,” Wahlberg revealed, adding, “We’ve decided to bring some special guests on tour with us.”
The New Kids will be joined by R&B acts TLC and Nelly on their Main Event tour. If history is any indication, it should be a resounding success – their last tour collaboration, with the Backstreet Boys, came in 17th on Billboard’s annual “Top 25 Tours” of 2011, earning over $40 million with 51 shows.
“This is such a great bill and we have so many records and such a huge following that we just want to make it the party of the year,” Wahlberg said. “There is no stopping us! We always have something up our sleeves.”
The tour will headline at 40-plus venues, so loyal fans shouldn’t have too much trouble scoring tickets. And they are definitely loyal – NKOTB was first formed in 1984.
The NKOTB Main Event tour opens in Las Vegas on May 1; tickets go on sale Jan. 31.
