Paul Rudd is now Ant-Man

On July 17, popular comedic actor Paul Rudd will add his name to the pantheon of the Marvel movie universe as Ant-Man. Rudd Will play career criminal Scott Lang who is approached by the original Ant-Man, Dr. Henry Pym, played by Michael Douglass, and offered the opportunity to take over as Ant-man. He will have the power to shrink to ant size but with an increase in strength and have the ability to communicate with ants.

Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Larry Lieber and first appearing in Tales to Astonish #27 in 1962, Ant-Man was Dr. Henry ‘Hank’ Pym who, after discovering a chemical substance (Pym Particles) that would allow the user to alter his size and armed with a helmet that could control ants, Pym would shrink down to the size of an insect to become the mystery-solving Ant-Man. Recruiting his then girlfriend, and later wife Janet van Dyne, who would use the Pym Particles to become the superhero The Wasp, Dr. Pym and Janet would become founding members of The Avengers. Scott Lang would take over as Ant-Man in Marvel Premiere #47 in 1979.

Along with summer 2015 releases of The Avengers 2, Age of Ultron and the Fantastic 4 re-boot, Marvel Studios appears to be on the way to another blockbuster summer movie season, something that the movie industry desperately needs since a disappointing 2014.
