LAPD investigating Bill Cosby assault complaint made by Model Chloe Goins

For the second time since December, the Los Angeles Police department has opened a sexual assault investigation into comedian Bill Cosby. Cosby, 77, has strongly maintained his innocence amidst the large number of sexual assault allegations by former models and actresses.

“The LAPD has opened an investigation into sexual assault claims made Wednesday against Bill Cosby by model, Chloe Goins,” an LAPD spokesperson told reporters.

Goins arrived at LAPD headquarters Wednesday morning with her attorney, Spencer Kuvin. In a press conference afterword her attorney said Goins gave a statement to police about an incident that occurred in 2008 when Goins was 18 years old. The incident occurred at the playboy mansion, she claims Cosby gave her a glass of wine and shortly after she lost consciousness, Goins claims that she woke in a bedroom in the mansion with Cosby naked on top of her.

In early December 2014 the Los Angeles Police Department also opened an investigation into a similar allegation made Judy Huth. Huth claimed that when she was just 15 years old Cosby gave her alcohol and allegedly drugged her before raping her in 1974, this incident also allegedly occurred at the Playboy mansion.

At the time of the December investigation, it was noted by Cosby’s attorneys, the Huth allegations were well outside the range of the 10 year statute of limitations for sexual assault crimes the state of California has. In response the LAPD pointed out that they do investigate older sexual assault crimes to establish a behavior pattern in the event the suspect can be charged in a more current, and prosecutable case.

According to a statement made by her attorney, Goins came forward after hearing about the multiple reports from other women describing alleged assaults by Cosby. Goins realized she might have a valid criminal case that falls within the 10 year statute.

Kuvin claims the Playboy Mansion has a security video surveillance system in place and maintains a videotape archive that could prove his client’s claim she was sexually assaulted by Cosby.

“The information about the cameras is general knowledge from other Playboy playmates. We hope that the LAPD would execute a search warrant to obtain those tapes,” attorney Kuvin told reporters. “I would hope that those tapes exist, and I hope they would know that those tapes should be maintained because they are key evidence in both a criminal and civil investigation.”

“Chloe is very aware of her responsibility because so many other women are outside of the statute of limitation,” her attorney said. “She is seeking justice under the criminal justice system.”

Chloe Goins is the most recent in a long list of recent accusations made by former models and actresses claiming they have been assaulted and raped by Cosby.

Cosby has been accused by former model turned reality TV star, Janice Dickinson, who claims that Cosby assaulted her in 1982. Former Playboy Bunny, P.J. Harvey also leveled allegations that Cosby assaulted her at the Playboy mansion in 1979.

Cosby has maintained his innocence with his wife publicly defending Cosby, and more recently his former Cosby Show co-star publicly speaking out. In an interview, Phylicia Rashad stated in the years she’s known Cosby, she has never seen the behavior alleged by the women who say they were drugged and raped.

“Forget these women,” Rashad said. “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV, and it’s worked.”
