Controversial singer Chris Brown found himself at the center of yet another club melee last weekend while hosting an event in San Jose, CA.
Brown had been performing at the Fiesta nightclub when a fight broke out early Sunday morning. Footage posted to his Vine account show him being rushed offstage as five gunshots can be heard.
The San Jose Mercury News reported that according to promotional materials and event attendees, Brown was featured at the nightclub as part of a VIP birthday party with celebrants including the singer’s manager. Local KMEL DJs Big Von and Black Marc were listed as providing music for the venue. The event advertised ticket prices starting at $50 and climbing as high as $2,500.
Not to be discouraged by the frightening incident, Brown hosted another sold-out event at Parq nightclub in San Diego, and posted a clip of crowd footage on Instagram, with no fighting or violence visible. Brown’s caption read: “No more ni** parties! Only this type s**t!” making a reference to events of the previous evening.
The San Diego police also released a statement about Chris’ appearance, which read: “The Chris Brown concert is a private venue. Our patrol staff and specialized teams will be briefed and will be working closely with the venue to discuss responsibilities.”
Brown has been involved in a number of high-profile incidents at clubs since his 2009 domestic violence charge for assaulting pop superstar Rihanna, most recently in August when hip-hop executive Suge Knight and two others were shot at a party co-hosted by Brown at a Los Angeles nightclub. He remains a popular figure regardless, with a Twitter following of 13.9 million fans.
