The warriors retain their five game winning streak in close match against the pacers

The first time the Warriors have been tested during their recent winning streak was in their matchup this week against the Pacers, who they ended up defeating 117 to 102.  The Warriors have won the last of their four games by an average of 25 points. The key elements in their domination this season, and their face up against the Pacers, have been the contributions of players Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

Throughout the duration of the match Thompson scored 40 points. Thompson sank six out of 11 three point shots. The other major scoring factor for the Warriors was Curry–who scored 21 points and had 15 assists.

But the match was no cake walk for Golden State. Early in the game the Pacers were holding an 11 point lead, despite their primary center’s–Roy Hibbert–sprained ankle in the first quarter, which made him unable to play for the duration of the match.

Solomon Hill and David West made the majority of the points for the Pacers. Hill scored 21 points and West scored 16.

Unfortunately for the Pacers, the Warriors’ center Andrew Bogut returned for the first time after his 12 game absence due to his knee injury, in the first quarter, and proved to be an important asset to give them the edge to win the game. Bogut had 4 points and 8 rebounds.

While the Warriors got their center back, it appears that the loss of Hibbert for the Pacers contributed to their downfall against the Warriors.

This match while being another victory for Warriors, also set some history; Stephen Curry became the fastest NBA player in history to make 1000 3-pointers. Curry achieved this task in 369 games, whereas it took the original holder of this title, Dennis Scott, 457 games.

Stay tuned to see whats next for these two teams in their match ups friday. The Pacers will host Boston, and the Warriors will host Cleveland.
