Former 'Transformers' star spars via interpretive dance with 12-year-old Maggie Ziegler in new music video.
Sia’s hit song “Elastic Heart” was first featured in the 2013 Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, but the Australian singer and songwriter rereleased the track Tuesday as the latest single off the 1000 Forms of Fear LP that was named one of Rolling Stone’s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014. In the music video which accompanies the rereleased song, Shia LaBeouf gets into a dance battle with the 12-year-old star of Sia’s “Chandelier” music video, Maggie Ziegler.
LaBeouf made headlines throughout last year after a drunken Broadway outburst led to him getting arrested and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, one count of trespass, one count of criminal trespass and harassment in the second degree. The Fury star also claimed that a woman raped him during a performance art piece last Valentine’s Day, which he put on because he felt guilty for plagiarizing the work of Daniel Clowes’ graphic novels for his short film Howard Cantour.com. The 28-year-old actor proved in Sia’s new music video that he’s ready to move on from his disastrous 2014 and dance his way into a better year.
The “Elastic Heart” video starts with LaBeouf and Ziegler entrapped in the top half of a birdcage in the middle of an industrial studio space. They begin to spar by using interpretive dance, until Ziegler finds a way out of the cage. She attempts to teach LaBeouf to escape with her, but finds himself unable to cross the threshold of the bars.
The visual follow-up to Sia’s “Chandelier” music video, the “Elastic Heart” video was also directed by Sia and Daniel Askill. “Chandelier” earned four Grammy nominations including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year. It was also nominated for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards, and won the award for Best Choreography.
