Bill Cosby continues to perform his sold-out comedy show across the US and Canada, even as rape allegations directed at the comedian continue to surface. Cosby is scheduled to take the stage tonight at the Center in the Square Theatre in Kitchener, Ontario. It is the first of three stops for the comedian in Canada; he will also be performing at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario on Thursday night and at the Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario, on Friday.
Cosby said in a statement to the New London Press that he intends to give fans “the show of their life.” But protests are planned through the duration of Cosby’s run in Canada. Megan Walker, head of the London Abused Women’s Center, will take part with others in a protest outside Budweiser Gardens during the London show. Walker is adamant that the protest will not endanger anyone’s safety.
“I can certainly tell you there’s no need to be concerned about protesters either in or outside. This is a peaceful protest,” she said.
“We aren’t targeting him. We are just saying we stand with women,” Walker said.
Meanwhile, super-lawyer Gloria Allred has a press conference scheduled today in Los Angeles where she will introduce three more of Cosby’s alleged victims. Over two dozen women have accused the comedian of rape and sexual assault, but as of yet no charges have been filed.
Cosby, for his part, urged ticketholders not to engage with protesters. “Remain calm,” Cosby said, “and do not confront the person making the disruption.” Several of his US performances were cancelled when allegations first began to surface, but it appears for now that the shows will go on.
