‘Big Bang Theory’ Kaley Cuoco doesn’t consider herself a feminist: ‘I’ve never really faced inequality’

Cuoco tells Redbook that she enjoys being an old-fashioned housewife too much to consider herself a feminist.

Celebrities like Taylor Swift and Emma Watson have spoken up about gender equality throughout this past year, but Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco won’t be lending her voice to the feminist front. When Redbook asked her if she considers herself a feminist during an interview for the magazine’s February 2015 issue, Cuoco said that she puts little thought into the concept because she’s “never really faced inequality.”

“Is it bad if I say no? It’s not really something I think about,” said Cuoco, who went on to say that thanks to the work of past feminists, she’s never felt the need to demand equality. “I’ve never really faced inequality.”

Cuoco married her husband Ryan Sweeting in a surprise ceremony on New Year’s Eve last year, and admits that the couple typically sticks to traditional gender roles in their household.

“I cook for Ryan five nights a week: It makes me feel like a housewife; I love that,” said the 29-year-old actress, who added that her desire to take care of the men in her life comes from her mother. “I like coming home and serving him.”

Cuoco recently became one of the highest-paid actresses on television after she signed a three-year contract with CBS for $1 million per episode for the The Big Bang Theory‘s next three seasons. Even though she considers herself “old-fashioned,” Cuoco is excited that her pay increase will allow her to be a provider for her family.

“I remember always hoping I could help take care of [my parents] because they took such good care of me,” said Cuoco. “Knowing I’ll be able to just brings tears to my eyes.”

In the interview, Cuoco went on to confirm rumors that she got breast implants while starring on 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and said that it was “the best decision I ever made.” Her full interview in the February 2015 issue of Redbook will be on newsstands Jan. 6.
