An Iowa man as been charged with assault against his pregnant wife with an unconventional weapon: a McDonald’s McChicken sandwich.

Police say 21-year-old Marvin Tramaine Hill II told police that he threw his McChicken sandwich at his wife because “he doesn’t like them,” according to a USA Today report. He was arrested on charges of simple domestic assault and placed in the Polk County Jail.

Initially, when police came to the couple’s home, Hill accused his wife of assaulting him, telling officers that his wife woke him up at 1 p.m. Hill was allegedly upset that she had a McChicken, prompting him to throw the sandwich at her, take part of the bun, and throw it at her again.

As his wife went to the bathroom to clean up, Hill followed her while recording her with his cell phone, a video he showed to the police. In the video, his wife can be seen knocking the phone out of his hands, police said.

Evidence of the McChicken, including mayonnaise, was all over the woman’s shirt and face when officers found her, and she alleged that Hill had “forcefully” smashed the bun in her face to the point that her nose was swollen. She said Hill had tried to provoke her into knocking the phone out of her hands so that she would appear to be the aggressor.

Hill, who remains in custody at the Polk County Jail, was arrested on the scene and had his weapons permit confiscated.
