Being the center of attention is dangerous. Bollywood actress Gauhar Khan was verbally attacked and physically slapped in the face while filming as hostess of the singing competition India’s Raw Star on Monday.

According to the NY Daily News, Khan was attacked on Sunday by audience member Mohammed Akil Mallick, 24, who first started a verbal argument with her. While he was being escorted out by some of the reported 250 bouncers on set, he managed to break free and slapped her in the face. Mallick reportedly said he was motivated to attack Khan because, “Being a Muslim woman, she shouldn’t have worn such a short dress.”

Khan is a former model and working actress who won India’s version of Big Brother—titled Big Boss—last year. According to The New Indian Express news group, Mallick was immediately taken to a police station in Mumbai where the show shoots. He was booked under the laws of punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, and punishment for criminal intimidation. He reportedly will appear before the court today.
