Scarlett Johansson officially married Romain Dauriac in a secret ceremony in October. Rumors and speculation began to stir about The Avengers star exchanging vows with the French journalist over the weekend, according to People Magazine, after The New York Post’s Page Six reported on Sunday that Johansson and Dauriac had an “intimate ceremony.”

A Granite County clerk told People Magazine that the couple married in Philipsburg, Mo. on Oct. 1, soon after the birth of their daughter Rose Dorothy in September. Page Six reported that many originally thought the couple’s wedding would happen in Paris. Instead, according to Us Weekly, the ceremony was held at the Ranch at Rock Creek in Montana far from Hollywood, Paris and Johansson’s home town, New York.

In October,  Dauriac was seen wearing a gold wedding band on the ring finger on his left hand. Earlier this month, Johansson was seen with him at the Champions of Rockaway Hurricane Sandy Benefit in New York City wearing what appeared to be a wedding band on her left ring finger, underneath her engagement ring. However, neither Johansson nor her rep commented.

A source told Page Six that Johansson and Dauriac wanted a secret ceremony because they simply wanted privacy. People Magazine reported that a secret wedding should come as no surprise. When Craig Ferguson asked Johansson whether she would be moving to France or staying in the U.S.,  Johansson said she was thinking of moving to a “faraway country where you can ski.” She also told the WSJ Magazine that she is hoping for a life where she is able to balance raising a family, making films fairly frequently, do theater and work on her own, according to People Magazine. 

Johansson and Dauriac were spotted together at the Gotham Awards in New York on Monday. Both newlyweds were wearing their wedding bands, and Johansson introduced Dauriac to many as her husband, according to Page Six. A guest at the awards said that Johansson was also sharing baby photos of her daughter and that she seemed very happy.

The couple, who began dating in 2012, had been engaged since August 2013. News of the 30-year-old actress’s pregnancy came in March, just 6 months after their engagement was announced.

This is not the first time Scarlett Johansson has chosen to keep her wedding a secret. In 2008, Johansson sneaked away to a secluded Canadian Resort and married 38-year-old actor Ryan Reynolds. People Magazine reported that the couple invited less than 40 family members and friends via text messages. The couple divorced in 2010. Reynolds is now married to Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.

Recently, other celebrity couples have chosen hushed ceremonies and low-key weddings. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie married in front of their six children in France on Aug. 23. How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka tied the knot on Sept. 6 in Italy in front of family. Former High School Musical cast member Ashley Tisdale married her musician fiance Christopher French on Sept. 8 in front of family and friends, as reported by People Magazine.
