Shia LaBeouf claims he was raped on Valentine’s Day: Woman ‘stripped my clothing’

LaBeouf says woman raped him during his "#IAMSORRY" performance art piece last February.

Shia LaBeouf went to court last Tuesday to plead guilty to disorderly conduct charges filed against him last June, and the former Transformer star may soon be back in court filing charges of his own. During a recent interview with Dazed Digital, LaBeouf revealed that he is finally ready to talk about the woman who he claims raped him during a performance art project he held in Los Angeles last February.

When LaBeouf was accused of plagiarizing the work of Daniel Clowes’ graphic novels for his short film Howard Cantour.com in February, the 28-year-old actor apologized and attempted to embrace his shame by inviting hundreds of people to mock and harass him for five days straight in an exhibit he titled “#IAMSORRY.” In the exhibit, LaBeouf sat alone in a room at a gallery in Beverly Hills, California, wearing a tuxedo and a bag over his head, as people went in one by one and were told to do or say whatever they wanted to him.

During his interview with Dazed Digital’s Aimee Cliff, LaBeouf was asked if any one experience stood out to him, and he made an unexpectedly disturbing revelation.

“One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me… There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well.”

LaBeouf went on to reveal that the rape occurred on Valentine’s Day, and the situation was made worse because his own girlfriend was in line to see him and take part in his performance.

“On top of that my girl was in line to see me, because it was Valentine’s Day and I was living in the gallery for the duration of the event – we were separated for five days, no communication. So it really hurt her as well, as I guess the news of it travelled through the line. When she came in she asked for an explanation, and I couldn’t speak, so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently. It was painful.”

LaBeouf has not yet stated whether or not he has brought the disturbing matter to the police or tried to seek out the identity of his rapist.
