Alfonso Ribeiro wins season 19 of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Alfonso Riberio and Witney Carson were crowned champions on the 2-part season finale Tuesday.

Alfonso Ribeiro and professional partner Witney Carson emerged as champions of  ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” after 11 weeks of competition.

Ribeiro and Carson received more votes than  “Pretty Little Liars” actress Janel Parrish and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy,  and “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson and her partner, Mark Ballas to claim the sought-after mirror ball trophy.

In tears, Ribeiro addressed co-host Tom Bergerson.  ““I cannot believe this,” he said. “I’ve wanted it forever … I don’t even know what to say. These are happy tears.”

Carson was equally enthused.  She claimed that Ribeiro was one of the hardest workers she’d ever met and that he deserved to win.  This was Carson’s first win as a professional choreographer on the show.

According to ABC News, the 43-year-old actor had been a fan favorite from the beginning when he performed “The Carlton.”   This eccentric dance was originally performed by his character on the TV sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

Despite his favoritism, Ribeiro was only ahead of Robertson by two points after night one.  However, his total score of 120 points—from both nights of competition and the viewers’ votes from Monday night—helped him keep the lead.   Second place went to Sadie Robertson and Janel Parrish landed in third place.

Prior to the crowning of Alfonso Ribeiro, the “Dancing With The Stars” live show consisted of several reunion performances by the eliminated couples, which included Carson and Ribeiro briefly doing “The Carlton” and Betsey Johnson doing her splits. The viewers chose Derek Hough and YouTube star Bethany Mota via Twitter to perform an encore of their futuristic freestyle from Monday night.

There were also several clips and outtakes from the season displayed throughout the show.  And musical guests Nick Jonas, Jennifer Hudson, Meghan Trainor, and Gordon City performed and added to the excitement.
