Demi Lovato states that she does not want to be friends with Miley Cyrus.
Demi Lovato reveals she has no interest in staying friends with Miley Cyrus in a radio interview on Monday.
In the interview with Boston 103.3 AMP, a listener asked the 22-year-old pop star to describe her relationship with Cyrus. “Um…yeah… that, um… we’re, we’re like, we’re acquaintances… it’s life, and people change,” Lovato said.
Although Lovato admitted to having no interest in a friendship with Cyrus, she did not offer any criticism . “I don’t have anything in common with her anymore, and I wish her all the best,” Lovato said.
According to a report by E! News, Lovato has a history of making only kind remarks about Cyrus. “Miley has been one of my best friends growing up and so I’m happy for her,” Lovato said on Fox 31’s “Everyday” in October 2013.
Lovato stated that she was glad to see Cyrus enjoying herself and that it is Cyrus’s time to figure out what she wants. “I’m happy seeing her happy because I love her so much. And, you know, she doesn’t care what people think, nor should she,” Lovato said.
E! News also reported possible reasons for Lovato and Cyrus calling it quits. An insider claimed Lovato’s loss of interest in Cyrus could be attributed to the fact that she values her sobriety and that she has made a point to not surround herself with partying.
Additionally, the source stated that Lovato cares about the public’s perception of her. She remains reserved in public unlike Cyrus.
This is not the first Disney star friendship Lovato has ended. In August, on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, she confirmed she was no longer following her former best friend Selena Gomez on social media.
Again, Lovato did not criticize her former friend. “I think it’s just one of those things where people change and people grow apart,” Lovato said.
