Launch of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge delayed in the UK

Samsung officially announced that the new Galaxy Note Edge will be available in the U.K. on Dec. 12 instead of Nov. 28.

Samsung delayed the launch of its new Galaxy Note Edge until Dec. 12 in the U.K. leaving future purchasers of the smartphone waiting two weeks longer.  The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was originally scheduled to launch on Nov. 28.

According to a report by Engadget, the Galaxy Note Edge will not be available for purchase on Nov. 28 and it will not be available to pre-order until Dec. 5.  Samsung has shortened the pre-order period from two weeks to one week.  This means that purchasers can reserve their Galaxy Note Edge from Carphone Warehouse or Samsung’s site no earlier than Dec. 5.

Also, according toEngadget’s report, the smartphones will not be in retail stores until Dec. 12. Currently, Vodafone and Clove are the only U.K retailers to confirm they will be stocking the Galaxy Note Edge so far.

Samsung has not declared any reason for the retail availability or the pre-order delay of the Galaxy Note Edge in the U.K.

This is not the first time Samsung has delayed the launch of a smartphone this year in the U.K.  They also delayed the release of the Galaxy Note 4. It launched one week later than its presumed date in October due to high demand.

The official price of the smartphone has not been released yet.  However, Clove’s current price is posted at £650.  A disclaimer appears below the price stating that the official price and availability still need to be confirmed.

Since the Edge is a large-screened smartphone, a high price is anticipated. In the U.S., it sells for more than $800 off-contract or more than roughly £510.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge includes a 5.6 inch Quad+ HD super AMOLED touchscreen that wraps around one side of the phone to create an edge display.  Notifications appear on the curved edge reducing clutter on the main screen.

The Galaxy Note Edge share several features with the Galaxy Note 4.  Some of those features and new features include the ability to open two apps side by side, clearer display technology, a more precise S Pen, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core processor, fast charging and a wide-angle 3.7MP lens on its front facing camera.
