Grumpy Cat to star in new Lifetime holiday movie

The stars of the new Grumpy Cat movie are cranking up their promotions.

Internet sensation Grumpy Cat will hit television screens this season with a new Christmas movie special, confirms the Detroit Free Press.

The made-for-cable film debuts on Lifetime Saturday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m.

Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, plays a gloomy and lonesome cat for sale in a pet shop that is purchased by a 12-year-old girl — the only person who can hear her talk. Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza voices the role of Grumpy Cat.

In promotion for the movie, actress Plaza’s twitter account has been a constant stream of Grumpy Cat memes.

In one particular tweet posted Saturday, Nov. 22, Plaza’s uses all capital letters to express her excitement for the upcoming premiere.

“T MINUS 7 DAYS TIL GRUMPY MOVIE MELTDOWN EXPLOSION! GET UR EGGNOG READY!!” tweets the actress.

The tweet is accompanied by an image of Plaza, wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, knocking glasses of eggnog with Grumpy Cat, whose eyes are closed and is frowning.

Meanwhile, Grumpy Cat is leading her own promotions.

The crabby cat was in San Francisco Saturday to promote a new Macy’s window display and answer questions about her new film.

The 2-year-old cat posed for pictures with fans — she has more than 7 million fans on Twitter and Facebook — before “participating” in a question and answer session. She didn’t answer any questions, as expected.

Even on the topic of her new Lifetime movie, Grumpy Cat was silent.
