With poor ratings, ‘The Queen Latifah Show’ will end next March

The news was first made known in a Facebook post from the show's host.

Even though it only started in 2013,  The Queen Latifah Show is already coming to an end. Shortly before TMZ broke the news of the daytime talk show’s cancellation, the show’s host posted on Facebook that production will only continue until the end of the year and the show will conclude next March.

The Queen Latifah Show premiered early last year, and earned a great deal of hype thanks to producers Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. However, sources told TMZ that the staff of the show was brought into an office Friday morning and told that the show’s ratings haven’t been high enough to justify its cost.

“We want to thank Dana, the producers and the entire staff of The Queen Latifah Show for creating a program that we are all very proud of,” distributor Sony Television Pictures wrote in a statement regarding the show’s cancellation. “Thank you also to our terrific station partners and advertisers who supported the show.”

Latifah expressed her thanks on Facebook to everyone who helped make her second attempt at daytime television possible, posting, “Your dedication and sacrifice was crucial to the entire team, and in the face of intense challenges, you displayed ‘True Grit!’ Thank you for your strong work ethic and great effort in getting The Queen Latifah Show off the ground and running. Your Family, Partners, Staff and Crew showed up with you every step of the way. Be very proud of that! Not everyone can say the same. You can also say you have been a blessing to and been blessed by amazing guests and incredible audiences for this show. We truly changed people’s lives for the better.”

The actress and host’s goodbye message soon became truly inspirational, as she continued that she hopes everyone who was involved in the talk show stays “positive, strong and open.”

“There is so much more God has in store! The most important thing in life is that you wake up every single day and take chances. No matter what the outcome… believe in yourself and continue to fly.”
