Jennifer Lawrence mobbed by fans after ‘Letterman’ taping

The actress, 24, was quickly whisked to safety by her security team.

Fame is its own kind of Hunger Game. Jennifer Lawrence had a brush with danger on Wednesday night when her overzealous fans overturned a barrier during an autograph signing session.

According to the Daily Mail, Lawrence was appearing on The Late Night with David Letterman show in New York when the incident occurred. The crowds of fans waiting outside the studio had reportedly booed when she had arrived earlier in the evening, as she was running late and rushed inside without signing autographs.

Lawrence, 24, attempted to make up for the slight on her way out of the studio by stopping at the metal barrier to sign pictures. However, the crowds became too excited and pushed forward, knocking the barrier over. Lawrence was uninjured, as her security team quickly moved her away and into her waiting vehicle. The Daily Mail claims she never stopped smiling, but the Mirror thought her face was “terrified.” Both sites have posted the same photos, and it is difficult to read her reaction.

The Oscar winner was appearing on Letterman to promote the third movie of the Hunger Games saga, Mockingjay: Part One. She told the funny story of how she panicked when asked to sing while filming the newest movie.

“I do not like singing in front of other people,” she said. “It’s like my biggest fear.” She shared that she was “scarred from my childhood” and a much-mocked singing recital that revealed her lack of musical ability, claiming she sounded like a “tone-deaf Amy Winehouse.”

Lawrence has not formally commented on the barrier incident.
