Walker 2016? Wisconsin governor won’t say he’s running for president, but is making waves

Walker pledged that he would serve all four years of his second term of governor, but was ambiguous in his answer about being part of a GOP bid for president in two years.

Fresh off a big victory in a contentious Wisconsin gubernatorial race, Republican Gov. Scott Walker didn’t rule out the possibility of taking a shot at the White House in 2016.

Walker pledged that he would serve all four years of his second term of governor, but was ambiguous in his answer about being part of a GOP bid for president in two years, according to a Fox report.

“I have a plan to keep going for the next four years, but certainly I care deeply for my state and my country and we’ll see what the future holds,” he was quoted as saying.

Walker defeated Democratic candidate Mary Burke last Tuesday in a day that saw Republicans take back the Senate and make sweeping gains in the House, as well as dominate in governor’s races.

Walker’s high-profile clashes with unions have brought him notoriety on a national stage, but Democrats have been unable to unseat him. He is considered a long shot to win the presidency, but an analyst quoted in the Fox report said he appeared to be making all the moves of someone who intends to run.

Those tings include publishing a book, winning a recent high-profile election, speaking to audiences around the nation, and proving he is an adept fundraiser.

Walker appeared on Meet the Press on Sunday, and talked about the 2016 presidential election in terms of what it will take to beat the presumed frontrunner for the Democrats, Hillary Clinton. He said that Clinton embodied “everything that is wrong with Washington,” and that Republicans need to offer a fresh approach. He pointedly added that governors make much better presidents than someone who served as a member of Congress.
