The South Korean tech juggernaut delivers what customers want with flagship phablet.
Samsung disrupted the smartphone space when it rolled out the Galaxy Note phablet three years ago and if there have been any doubts about its traction with consumers, they had to be done away with when Apple released the iPhone 6 Plus. But up close, does the fourth version of the Galaxy Note stand out?
The answer — at least from Indian business newspaper The Business Standard — is a resounding “yes.” The Note 4 runs Google Android 4.4 Kitkat on a 2.7 GHz quad-core processor and among some of its most appealing features are a super-sized 5.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display and two cameras – a 16 megapixel with optical image stabilization in the rear and a 3.7 megapixel camera in the front.
The phablet has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory upgradeable to 128 GB with a microSD card. The Note 4 runs runs on a 3,220 mAh battery, which charges in about an hour.
The Note 4’s signature feature is the S Pen stylus, handy for jotting down notes or drawing. Also include is S Health, a digital health monitor that measures heartbeat and stress level. It’s customizable, so the phone owner can get alerts for when s/he reaches certain levels of fitness – or doesn’t.
“S Health even prompts you for a walk if you haven’t moved around for a long time,” The Business Standard reported. About the only issue discovered was that the phablet was prone to heating up after extended use. Event with that in mind, the outlet raved the Note 4 is “pleasing to the eye and a premium offering” that “should fit well with all the Galaxy Note and Android enthusiasts out there.”
