Police have not yet identified a cause of death for either the suspect or his victim.
The body of 30-year-old murder suspect Paulo Rosa was found Sunday in the woods near the Swansea/Rehoboth line, The Associated Press reports.
Rosa’s body was discovered by a Massachusetts State Police helicopter after his vehicle was located near the side of the road.
“We were hoping to get to him before he took his own life, but unfortunately this is a sad conclusion,” Police Commissioner William B. Evans told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
Rosa allegedlly killed his girlfriend, 33-year-old Audilia DaVeiga, Saturday in a home they shared in the Dorchester area of Boston, Massachusetts.
According to The Boston Globe, authorities have not said how Rosa’s girlfriend died. However, they do not think a firearm was used to commit the crime.
The newspaper says that Evans told reporters Saturday that the victim and suspect’s young son was discovered uninjured at the scene of the crime.
“This appears to be an unfortunate domestic incident,” Evans said, according to WCVB.
Police have not yet identified a cause of death for either Rosa or his girlfriend, but The AP notes that, according to police, it is likely that the suspect took his own life.
According to several media reports, the victim’s brother is a Boston PD officer.
