God particle may not exist, according to researchers; Where is the Higgs boson?

Recently, a new study has brought to light the possibility of miss calculated data concerning the original observations, and the LHC may actually had born a different type of subatomic particle, not the presumed Higgs boson.

It was reported last year by Denmark Scientists, researchers had successfully observed the Higgs particle in the CERN particle accelerator formally known as the Large Hardon Collider. Prior to their observation, the Higgs subatomic particle was merely a theoretical prediction without any pragmatic evidence. Recently, a new study has brought to light the possibility of miss calculated data concerning the original observations, and the LHC may actually had born a different type of subatomic particle, not the presumed Higgs boson.

“The CERN data is generally taken as evidence that the particle is the Higgs particle, it is true that the Higgs particle can explain the data but there can be other explanations, we would also get this data from other particles,” said particle physicist Mads Toudal Frandsen, who led the project.

Frandsen was a member of the science team who illuminated the possibility of miscalculation of the LHC data, in a journal review out of the University of Southern Denmark. Frandsen and his team believe the data may indeed represent the long sought Higgs particle, but also believe it works for another theoretical type of particle known as the tech-higgs.

“A techni-higgs particle is not an elementary particle. Instead, it consists of so-called techni-quarks, which we believe are elementary,” Frandsen explained. “Techni-quarks may bind together in various ways to form for instance techni-higgs particles, while other combinations may form dark matter,” continued Frandsen in his press release. “We therefore expect to find several different particles at the LHC, all built by techni-quarks.”

The Higgs particle with its nickname, ‘the god particle’ can understandably be the target of harsh critiques in the world of science. The particle is predicted to be responsible for all the mass in the universe, born out of theoretical physicists attempts to reduce the universe down to its most basic building blocks. Although its discovery or attempted observation have brought excitement to the imagination and realm of science, the discovery that it may not exist poses equal philosophical and scientific enigma.
