Kim Kardashian and other celebs turn out to vote in midterm election

Hollywood seemed to pay special attention to this year's midterm elections.

Midterm elections occurred nation-wide on Tuesday and Hollywood took notice.
Instagram and Twitter were full of celebrities posting pictures of their voting stickers and often urging their followers to get to the polls.

PopSugar Celebrity posted a slideshow collecting some of the celebrity voting photos from around the web. They found 21 stars to add, including Olivia Wilde, Conan O’Brien, Mandy Moore, Zach Braff, Kendall Jenner, Wilmer Valderrama, Leonard Nimoy, Fergie, Rob Lowe, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, and Jason Mraz. Many of them again used their social media to encourage their followers to go out and vote themselves.

Rapper Kanye West urged his Twitter followers to vote, noting that he and his wife met with President Obama two weeks ago. “The midterms are extremely important,” he tweeted.

On October 7, Rock the Vote, a nonprofit and non-partisan organization, organized and released a music video called #TURNOUTFORWHAT. An adaptation of the song Turn Down For What by Lil Jon, the video featured celebrities such as Lil Jon himself, Lena Dunham, Whoopi Goldberg, Fred Armisen, and Sophia Bush. The stars revealed what issue they cared enough about to vote on (though not which candidates they were voting for) and pressed viewers to use their own concerns to bring them to the polls.

ABC News reported at the time that some of the celebrities featured had not in fact voted in the previous election, such as Goldberg. However, Audrey Gelman, a spokeswoman for Rock the Vote, defended those stars’ presence, saying, “Like most young people, many of Rock the Vote’s celebrity partners have voted in presidential, but not midterm elections, which is why we embarked on an aggressive campaign around engagement this election season. We believe individuals who have missed opportunities to vote in the past should not be disqualified from committing to participate in the political process in the future.”

Election results continue to roll in over the country.
