Carmelo Anthony on joining 20,000 career-points club: ‘It’s a humbling experience’

He scored 28 points on the Charlotte Hornets.

Carmelo Anthony became the sixth youngest player to join the NBA’s exclusive 20,000 point club on Sunday, dropping 28 points on the Charlotte Hornets.

“For me it’s a humbling experience,” Anthony said after the game, according to The Sports Xchange. “I never thought that I would be sitting here scoring 20,000 points. I played with A.I back in Denver and see his stats and go ‘man you got 20,000 points.’ I never thought I’d actually be talking about me reaching that milestone. I’m definitely humbled by this experience and I got more to go.”

Anthony is reportedly the 40th player in NBA history to score more than 20,000 points in their careers.

The Columbus Dispatch notes that Anthony’s achievement came on the same night that he helped seal the New York Knick’s victory over Charlotte with the go-ahead basket.
