The reality stars married in a church packed with more than 1,000 guests.
Reality television star Jessa Duggar, 21, has wed her co-star and fiance Ben Seewald, according to People magazine.
Viewers of 19 Kids and Counting know the pair’s relationship well, as their courtship, engagement and now wedding were all captured on the hit TLC show. Duggar and Seewald’s nuptials will air next season.
Duggar married Seewald, 19, before a crowd of more than 1,000 at First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Ark. Duggar was joined at the altar by her sister and maid of honor, Jinger, 20. Seewald’s best friend, Dylan McMahan, 24, served as best man.
“Ben is a man of integrity,” explained McMahan, to People magazine. “I know he’s going to honor his wife and put her first.”
Duggar wore a pale blush dress — not the traditional white — with a beaded bodice of Swarovski crystals and pearls. It was the second wedding dress that she tried on at a nearby bridal shop in Fayetteville, Ark.
“We didn’t know if she would like it because it wasn’t the traditional white,” says the bridal shop’s co-owner Lindsey Stavely.
“She kept coming back to this dress and all her sisters were like, ‘the second one, the second one,’ so everyone agreed,” added Stavely’s business partner, Erin Bridges.
The color of the brides’s dress wasn’t the only untraditional aspect of the Duggar-Seewald wedding ceremony and reception.
The couple, who had never shared a kiss during their courtship nor their engagement, elected to save their first kiss as man and wife for a later, more private time.
“They wanted their very first kiss ever to be in private,” said Pastor Mike Schadt, in an interview with People magazine. “It was important to the both of them.”
Instead, the pastor directed the 1,000 people in attendance to observe a kiss between Duggar’s parents.
“So, now you’ve seen a Duggar kiss,” said Schadt, to the crowd.
At the reception, the couple chose chocolate sundaes over a wedding cake, as Duggar isn’t a fan of the baked sweet treat.
19 Kids and Counting‘s Duggar and Seewald, who married on Saturday, Nov. 1, are now enjoying their honeymoon, the location of which has not been made public.
