WNYT reports that seven people were able to escape from the house in Portland, Maine.
State Police Spokesman Stephen McCausland believes, according to MPBN, that most of the house’s residents were probably sleeping when the fire broke out. He noted Sunday that none of the five victims attend the University of Southern Maine.
Fire investigators have not identified any of the victims. Police say that the investigation into the cause or causes of the fire could take several weeks.
