“That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids," the company's CEO told investors.
Starting in 2015, Starbucks will offer a delivery service to customers in certain markets, The Associated Press reports.
Starbucks says that the new service will be offered as a delivery option on the company’s mobile app. The AP adds that Starbucks had previously announced that starting in 2015 customers will be able to pre-order their coffee using their mobile phone.
“Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily,” Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz told investors on Thursday, according to The Wall Street Journal. “That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.”
During the conference call, Schultz also discussed the company’s fourth quarter results. According to Forbes, Starbucks’ consolidated net revenues increased 10 percent to a quarter-four record $4.18 billion, just short of the $4.24 billion analysts expected.
Nasdaq notes that sales at Starbucks-owned stores open at least 13 months increased five percent in the fourth quarter.
