Lowe’s to roll out insanely smart robot employees for holiday season [VIDEO]

The robots can speak in both Spanish and English.

Imagine going to your nearest Lowe’s hardware store for a box of nails and when you enter the store you are asked in a robotic voice: “How may I help you?

According to a report from The Associated Press, two OSHbots are expected to help customers at the San Jose, California Orchard Supply Hardware store (a chain owned by Lowe’s) in the near future.

The robots, which will likely be rolled out this holiday season, will be able to provide answers to verbal questions such as where is a specific product located or whether a specific product is still in stock, CNET notes.

Customers will also be able to use a touch-screen menu to select a specific product or the customer can show OSHbot his or her one-remaining nail from home and OSHbot will find the rest of its family members, Business Insider reports.

“They’re based on making a science fiction story a reality,” Kyle Nel, executive director of Lowe’s Innovation Lab, told The AP. “People can come in with a random screw and say, ‘Mr. Robot, I need more of these,’ and if we do have it in the store, they can find it.”

The AP adds that the robots can speak in both English and Spanish.
