Man who just admitted to murdering stepsons in 1986 will be freed as soon as his paperwork arrives

Upon release, he'll be required to wear a GPS monitor, follow a curfew and keep a strict schedule.

According to a report from The Associated Press, the release of 62-year-old murderer Edward E. Graf Jr. was delayed Monday because of paperwork issues.

Graf’s lawyers told The AP that prison officials were waiting for the paperwork from the parole board that would have green lighted their client’s release from the Walls Unit prison in Huntsville, Texas.

“We are entirely frustrated and very disappointed,” Walter M. Reaves Jr. told the WacoTrib.com.

“At the same time, we know he will be released soon and that is a good thing,” Michelle Tuegel, Graf’s other lawyer, told the newspaper. “We can hang in there a bit longer.”

According to KWTX, Graf stopped jury deliberations in his retrial last week to plead guilty to killing his two stepsons in 1986.

Graf was reportedly granted a retrial after it was determined by several experts that arson investigators who testified against the 62 year old at his first trial were incorrect.

Although the man’s plea deal involves a 60-year prison sentence, his 28 years spent in prison prior to his retrial made him eligible for parole.

KVUE reports that Graf will be under heavy scrutiny while on parole. He’ll be required to wear a GPS monitor, follow a curfew and keep a strict schedule.
