The CHP officer told investigators that he had learned how to do this while at the CHP Los Angeles office.
According to a report from The Associated Press, a California Highway Patrol officer has been accused of stealing nude photos from the mobile phones of women taken into custody on DUI charges and sharing them with fellow officers. The photos were reportedly taken from a women while she was being processed at a jail in Martinez, California.
The AP notes that CHP officer Sean Harrington told investigators that he sent nude photos on several occasions to other officers. CHP officers Robert Hazelwood and Dion Simmons have been accused of receiving the nude photos and discussing their content with Harrington.
According to FoxNews.com, Harrington told investigators that he had learned how to do this while at the CHP Los Angeles office and that doing so was considered a “game” among some officers.
“The allegations that have been brought forward are disappointing,” Avery Browne, chief of the CHP’s Golden Gate Division, said Saturday, according to the SFGate. “They are disgusting.”
According to The AP, Contra Costa County prosecutors will soon announce whether they will file criminal charges against the three officers. Prosecutors told the Contra Costa Times that the DUI case that triggered the investigation into the nude-photo sharing has already been dismissed.
