His latest flick was out done by the opening of Ouija it's opening weekend-- maybe it's because Reeves has more mutant ambitions.
He has played everything from a cloaked man who could fight in slow motion to a guy who can stop a bus, but one thing Keanu Reeves has always wanted to play – a superhero. Well, Wolverine to be exact.
He just turned 50-years-old but his birthday wish this year was like that of an eight-year-old. He recently said in an interview with Moviefone, “I always wanted to play Wolverine, but I didn’t get that. And they have a great Wolverine now.” Yes, the world already has Hugh Jackman and it is not likely he will be hanging up his claws anytime soon, sorry Keano. At least he recognizes that is a role he will never get.
That is not the only superhero Reeves has had his eye on. He also wanted to fight for Gotham city. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “I always wanted to play The Dark Knight, but I didn’t get that one. They’ve had some great Batmans. So now I’m just enjoying them as an audience.”
It is kind of funny that he wants these parts so badly but then is okay when he does not get the role and can respect the casting director’s decision to not go with him – class act right there.
In a decade that has spanned three decades now it is hard to place Reeves as a superhero though. The world is just used to him as either a man of action, in some romantic situation often times opposite Sandra Bullock, or sometimes both. It is an odd mixture of roles but he manages to balance it all out well.
His latest, John Wick, just hit theaters but was outdone but Ouija its opening weekend.
