Goodbye to ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ as TLC cancels series

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo cancelled after reports of Mama June dating a sex offender.

“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” will be a thing of the past after TLC announced plans to cancel the popular reality show in the face of accusations that family patriarch Mama June was dating a sex offender who had molested her own daughter, Anna. Mama June denies the claims but the network went ahead and cancelled the show despite her public denial.

In a statement, TLC said that “supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the childrens’ ongoing comfort and well-being.” Though they just wrapped up shooting of another season and had plans to begin airing it a the end of the year, it looks as though that will not be happening.

The reports of Mama June’s new relationship surfaced last week. With those reports came allegations that the same man who Mama June is currently dating had molested her daughter, Anna, when she was just eight-years-old. That has since been confirmed, however, Mama June still denies that she is dating him now.

“The statement of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue. Pumpkin (the nickname for the man she is reported to have dated) has openly said that I did not date him. I would not ever, ever, ever put my kids in danger. … That is my past. I have not seen that person in 10 years,” Mama June said in a Facebook post. She also claimed that TLC told her to be “hush, hush” about the cancellation.

Right now it looks like it is going to be a war of words between Mama June and TLC execs, but sadly, there is the very real fact that this man did molest Anna and Mama June may or may not have contact with him now.
