Ivee, Life360, Pebble, Rachio, and SNUPI Technologies will be joining the Works with Nest product roster.
Nest labs has taken a major step towards making full home automation a reality by bringing five new devices into the “Works with Nest” family.
“We’re working with thousands of developers of all sizes – global corporations, startups, and even hobbyists. And today, I’m happy to welcome the following startups to the Works with Nest family,” said Nest founder Matt Rogers in a blog post Friday. Rogers went on to name ivee, Life360, Pebble, Rachio, and SNUPI Technologies as the startups that would be joining the Works with Nest product roster.
These companies, and the devices they make, bring a number of new capabilities to the table for Nest, including ivee’s voice-activated home assistant and the ability to set the Nest Thermostat via a Pebble wrist watch. SNUPI Technologies’ WallyHome is a wireless sensor system that will ensure Nest Thermostat does not heat or cool an unused room. Also integrating with Nest Thermostat is the smartphone family app, Life360, which will let Nest know once everyone has left the home, so energy settings may be set accordingly.
Rachio, meanwhile, makes a smart sprinkler system that will link up to Nest smoke detectors in the house. If smoke is detected for a certain period of time, the sprinklers outside will be activated to help prevent the spread of fire.
These devices join an already impressive lineup of smart devices, from Mercedes Benz automobiles to UP24 fitness bands, that integrate with Nest, bringing the so-called “Internet of things” from the realm of science fiction to the house next door.
