Karl Rove fund announced it will pump $820,000 into campaign to target Nevada Democratic candidate.
Former President Bill Clinton will lead a rally this Tuesday for Nevada Democrats to help bolster Rep. Steven Hosford’s bid for a second term in Congress after a Karl Rove fund announced it would dump $820,000 into his opponent’s campaign.
In a move to energive Democrats and get them to the polls, Clinton will lead a “vote early, vote now” rally one week before the Nov. 4 election to counter Republicans, who are showing up in greater numbers in early voting, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The event, which will be held at the Las Vegas Spring Preserve, will feature Clinton and numerous Democratic candidates, many in close races despite being in districts with more registered Democrats than Republicans. So far, Republicans have outvoted Democrats by about 10,000.
Early voting will end Oct. 31 and Democrats want to gain some ground after falling behind.
Rep. Dina Titus will also appear with Horsford and Clinton, along with attorney general candidate Ross Miller, secretary of state candidate Kate Marshall, lieutenant governor candidate Lucy Flores, and congresional candidates Erin Bilbray.
However, Bob Goodman, an opponent of GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval, will not make an appearance. Goodman is seen as an unlikely victor in that race.
Although Horsford is considered the likely winner of his race, Republican challenger Assemblyman Crescent Hardy has performed well in early voting and Democrats are worried he could pull off an upset.
The Karl Rove-funded Crossroads GPS announced it would pump $820,000 into a campaign targeting Horsford.
Democrats have proven vulnerable in a number of regions, including West Virginia and Iowa, where President Barack Obama’s low approval ratings are dragging Democrats, providing hope to Republicans who are looking to increase their lead in the House and take back the Senate.
